A Poem I Wrote (yeah I'm a dork, so what??)

Tay Tay
(early 2015)

She's the one who made it okay
To make something great
Out of heartbreak
There was a long long time in my life
Spent dwelling with pen in hand
Trying to create the perfect mood
To capture all that young love throws at you
Flashbacks and echoes,
They happen to me too
I used to date musicians
Hoping they'd write  about me
But thanks to you, I picked up a guitar
Now here we are, four years gone
And now I'm the one writing songs
When I start talking about Taylor,
All my friends roll their eyes
But what they don't realize
Is things aren't always what they seem
They say pop stars aren't cool
But I know that if we were together,
We'd talk and laugh the whole night through
What more is there to loving someone?
Flashbacks and echoes,
They happen to me too
I used to date musicians
Hoping they'd write  about me
But thanks to you, I picked up a guitar
Now here we are, four years gone
And now I'm the one writing songs
I can picture us, harmonized singing
Trying on lipsticks and mood rings
Summer dresses, cowboy boots
Dancing, dancing, around my room
It's not a guilty pleasure
Since there's no guilt present
Flashbacks and echoes,
They happen to me too
I used to date musicians
Hoping they'd write  about me
But thanks to you, I picked up a guitar
Now here we are, four years gone
And now I'm the one writing songs
Writing on the back of our hands,
Or notebooks, napkins, we don't care
Serial monogamists, true love addicts
So many silly habits that we share
We even got the same curly hair
We're both well-dressed, well-read
Self possessed feminists
Forging our own way
No matter what the critics say
Yeah, yeah, she'll always be my Tay Tay
