She & Him - "Fools Rush In"
fools rush in where wise men never go but wise men never fall in love, so how are they to know?

Architecture in Helsinki - "Contact High"
I didn't know what to expect from Architecture in Helsinki's new album, Moment Bends, more of the same? Okay, admittedly that's what I expected. To my surprise, they've taken a new weird Chromeo-esque direction. Disco influence? Dunno. He's using his voice for real in this song. I love it. Love it. Love it.

She & Him - "Lingering Still"
For real, Zooey is my soul sister. I love her old soul and the songs she chooses to cover and sing and share with me in such a beautiful way. If she ever stops making music, I think I might die. SAME GOES FOR YOU JENNY LEWIS, WE'VE BEEN THROUGH A LOT TOGETHER, LET'S KEEP MAKING MORE, OKAY???????
I like to learn things slow
I like learning a lot
I like to get it all again and in the end
You know you get what you got
I like to mean what I say
But it don't always come through
Because if I say it all again, again, again
It doesn't make it all true
And the world's like a science
And I'm like a secret
And I saw you lingering still, still
I saw you lingering still
It's all just news to me
Don't really care if it hurts
Because if I knock it I won't know it
Then I know that it will only get worse
He was different at first
But then he won't understand
Because he's never going to know me
If he doesn't want to just shake my hand
And the world's like a science
And I'm like a secret
And I saw you lingering still, still
I saw you lingering still

relating two unrelated songs by Liz Phair and Peter Bjorn and John
It's time for a little game I like to play with myself called "relate two unrelated songs!"
it's why mix cd's are the best. people who enjoy mix cd's derive meaning from a variety of things. That's beautiful. well. let me share the beautiful songs I thought of.
Liz Phair - "Flower"
Imagine being her object of affection... haha idk. I think it's kind of sexy to be completely honest. I'm not so wild like her, but like I said, I wouldn't mind her feeling that way about me hahahaha. Oh wow. Hello. Let's hope family never reads this blog.
In case you want to know what I meant by 'object of affection,' I think Peter Bjorn and John certainly know how to define it with thissss songgggg..... dun dun dun!!!!!!!!!
^ things that make me feel excited and thoughtful... sex and deriving infatuation/total admiration and motivation out of life, usually from a person lolz. but lyrics are cool that way. they can be about whatever you want them to be about.

Kate Nash - "Mouthwash"
And, this, is my mind
It goes over and over
The same old lines
And, this, is my brain
It's torturous analytical thoughts
Make me go insane
And I use mouthwash
Sometimes I floss
I got a family
And I drink cups of tea
I've got nostalgic pavements
I've got familiar faces
I've got a mixed-up memory
And I've got favourite places
And I'm singing "oh oh" on a Friday night
And I'm singing "oh oh" on a Friday night
And I'm singing "oh oh" on a Friday night
And I hope everything's gonna be alright
And I'm singing "oh oh" on a Friday night
And I hope everything's gonna be alright
This is my face
I've got a thousand opinions
And not the time to explain
And this is my body
And no matter how you try and disable it
Yes I'll still be here
And, this, is my mind
And although you try to infringe
You cannot confine
And, this, is my brain
And even if you try and hold me back
There's nothing that you can gain

Liz Phair - "Divorce Song"
I tried giving this album a fair listen a couple years ago when I was big into livejournal mixes lolz, but I couldn't quite appreciate it back then. The lyrics and her voice and her singing style and the music are just all so perfect. It's so imperfect it's perfect, if you know what I mean.
