Discovery - "Osaka Loop Line"
I mixed a pandora station with The Mountain Goats and Yeasayer and got that
I love pandora hehehehe
The Mountain Goats - "The Young Thousands"
Boats ease into the harbor bearing real suspicious cargo
And the sunlight on the water
Sets a switch off in your brain
The things that you've got coming will consume you
There's someone waiting out there in an alley with a chain
The ghosts that haunt your building are prepared to take on substance
And the dull pain that you live with isn't getting any duller
There's a closet full of almost-pristine videotape
Documenting sordid little scenes in living color
Here they come
The young thousands
Here they come
The young thousands
You drive east from the ocean with both hands tied on the wheel
And you go past Garden Grove
As the pleasure index rises
The things that you've got coming will do things that you're afraid to
There is someone waiting out there with a mouthful of surprises
The ghosts that haunt your building have been learning how to breathe
They scan the hallways nightly vainly searching for a sign
There must be diamonds somewhere in a place that stinks this bad
There are brighter things than diamonds coming down the line
Here they come
The young thousands
Here they come
The young thousands

Jenny & Johnny - "My Pet Snakes"
Besides Slavedriver, this is my favorite song off of their album, I'm Having Fun Now.
"2009, it was a bastard of a year
(Lalala, pass the joint to me)
I cannot get stoned no more, I only get the fear
(These good times, they are killing me)
We can have it out or we can have another beer
(I could lie so we're even)
All the best of luck with your career"

Jens Lekman - "Pocket Full of Money"
~*~ favorite Jens song alert ~*~
The second half of the song is so strange yet I can't stop listening to it on repeat in my car. On the way to school, the gym, grocery shopping, etc. The "I'll come running with a heart on fire" sample is from a Beat Happening song which sucks in my opinion. But nevertheless, it is my favorite part in this song :33

FLEET FOXES
Sometimes I like to just put on music, lay down and get lost in my head. Fleet Foxes is the first band in a long time that made me so grateful for this lame activity I so thoroughly enjoy. My dear friend Becca tried turning me onto them last winter but I never really gave them enough attention to let them seduce me. That girl knows whats up.
Now I am seduced.
Now I am seduced.

Mumford and Sons - "After The Storm"
But I won't rot, I won't rot
Not this mind and not this heart,
I won't rot.

GRUM - "Shake This Feeling"
This video is hilarious. "WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT? WE HAVE PLENTY OF SPAGHETTI!"
Jukebox The Ghost - "Schizophrenia" official video
I have a very deep fear of schizophrenia - people with it, people developing it, the possibility that I may develop it, etc. A few weeks ago before this album leaked, I had a nightmare about my "schizophrenic voices" personified and chasing me around a state fair. After finally getting my hands on Everything Under The Sun the next day after the nightmare, I heard this song and felt very uneasy (the sequence of events was the weirdest part for me). So since I'm friends with the drummer of Jukebox, I asked him on facebook chat why the hell they wrote this song.
He told me that it's because Ben (another member of the band) used to have the same fear of schizophrenia and decided to write a song about it in a playful way, kind of like a sigh of relief because he is past the age where it onsets and is perfectly healthy. What a sigh of relief to me that someone else shared the same fear. Although, I'm still weary of the timing of it all. I need to start believing in coincidences haha ;]
OKAY ENJOY! It's a really awesome song. One of my favorites.

Bored of music
I am so bored of music right now. I was on this huge music kick in the spring and exhausted it all this summer. Seriously, I have about 20 mix cd's with the same songs in varying orders. So for now I'm just waiting for something to fall into my lap and consume me because I really don't have the motivation for finding new music - it really is a whole hobby in it's own right. So I guess I'll be taking a break from this blog thingy until I find something really special.
Until then, my boring recycled mix cd's will have to do :'[
(and of course I am pretty much always on tumblr so you can find me there)

Eggstone - "Birds in Cages"
First heard this on the Jens Lekman summertime in 3/4 time mix. Something about the deep despair in the song warms my heart.

My road-trip mix tape
The third song is an audio recording of a letter written by Rainer Maria Rilke that has the best advice for loneliness, which I'm sure a road-trip might incite in a person at one point or another.

Maps & Atlases - "The Charm"
Although very different from their usual stuff (that I love with all of my heart) this is fucking incredible in my humble opinion. I'm all about the tension build-ups in songs and they do it so perfectly here.
I don't think there is a sound that I hate more/ than the sound of your voice/when you say that you don't love me/anymore.

The Bird and The Bee - "Heard It On The Radio"
From their newest album, A Tribute To Daryl Hall And John Oates. I love the 70s feel it has ;] I haven't listened to the rest of the album yet (two more minutes until it's done downloading) but judging from this, it's not going to be bad or as dull as their last one was overall. But we'll see. Can't judge an album by it's single ;]

Jenny and Johnny
OMFG
I've been hoping and praying that Jenny would give me something more. Zooey Deschanel was starting to take her place and I am just so happy to see her finally putting some cards down and try to win me over again.
The album cover has already won points in my book for being quite possibly the cutest album cover ever made? Jenny Lewis' LEGS

Opus Orange - "Nothing But Time"
They sound almost identical to The Drums, so naturally I am head over heels in love with this band right now. Not that anyone actually reads this thing, but if you do and you like the music I've been posting, this is definitely worth checking out. Basically it's all my favorite songs collected by Indie Rock Cafe.
I fucking love The Drums but what douches

"U2 to The Drums is one of the most boring bands of all time. Self-righteous and self-important.
"I don't like it when bands mix politics with music. It's a little tiring, everything. Bands don't need to save the world. They just need to write good pop songs." - Johnny
I don't like U2 either, but is that really the kind of stuff you want to say in an interview? I just don't think it's very classy.
anyways, here's their cover (which is of course wonderful):

We Were Promised Jetpacks - "Quiet Little Voices"
As if Scotland didn't have enough bands that make me want to go there, just to see what exactly surrounded these minds. I'm weird. Anyways, they're from Edinburgh. Naturally they've played with Frightened Rabbit ;]
Someone asked me if they got their name from something the Beatles said, but I don't see that anywhere online. I'd like to know.
I'm downloading their newest EP, The Last Place You'll Look, maybe if it's good a song will show up on here :P

Frightened Rabbit - "Swim Until You Can't See Land"
“Are you a man or are you a bag of sand?”
Frightened Rabbit is in my top 3 favorite bands of all time, somewhere with Rilo Kiley and The Mountain Goats. Anyways, this is from their latest album, The Winter of Mixed Drinks. I love songs about solitude. I love Scottish accents. I love Frightened Rabbit.
"With those expectations in mind, singer-guitarist and primary songwriter Scott Hutchison retreated to the Scottish coastal town of Crail to write Frightened Rabbit’s excellent new album, The Winter Of Mixed Drinks. Removed from distractions both existential (his and his band’s place in the world) and mundane (online movie trailers), Hutchison wrote the songs that would become the new album—and wrote them differently. Where Organ Fightdeconstructed a failing relationship, Mixed Drinks finds Hutchison stepping away from what he succinctly calls “songs about girls.” Instead, the album is mostly concerned with songs about self, but not in an overly indulgent way. It’s more about discovering what you’re made of—or, as Hutchison sings in “Swim Until You Can’t See Land,” “Are you a man? Are you a bag of sand?” Just before the band's appearance at SXSW (including a headlining set at The A.V. Club's free day show, March Into Softness), he spoke to The A.V. Club."

Big D And The Kids Table - "Bender"
Sometimes I branch out musically and sometimes I want to drink for days at a time, this post is the result.
Conor Oberst & The Mystic Valley Band: Conor Oberst finally doing something right.
Conor Oberst is growing up so much right before our very eyes! After hearing him, Jenny Lewis, Ben Gibbard and M. Ward cover "Handle Me With Care," I just knew he was meant to do something so much better than Bright Eyes.
Anyways, if you liked Rabbit Fur Coat or Bob Dylan, you'll like this. Conor's voice annoys me in Bright Eyes, but not here. He was meant to sing like this. I'm just waiting for Ben Gibbard to hop on the folky Dylan-esque bandwagon (and that is not sarcasm).

fun. - "Walking The Dog" and "At Least I'm Not As Sad (As I Used To Be)"
Nate Ruess from The Format's sideproject, SOOOOOOO much better than The Format. The whole album is 9/10 imo, the only problems are a few filler songs and Nate's voice just reminds me so much of The Format, which isn't such a good thing because The Format is boring. They were good when I was 14 and just getting into "indie" music. This is the complete opposite, in fact, it's fun! See what I did there?
Girls - “Lust For Life”
At the risk of being too pitchfork-esque, I'm going to post this song. Any song that makes me feel like I'm at the beach with clapping in the background is objectively awesome blossom.
White Rabbits - “Percussion Gun”
This song is so fucking sexy in the way “Hang Me Up To Dry” is, probably because this band may as well call themselves Cold War Kids. Egal. Worth a listen. And a watch because the boys in this video are all incredibly attractive.
La Roux - “I’m Not Your Toy”
Although I'm usually not a big fan of dancey synth pop, this song has earned "on-repeat-for-days" status. You know those songs that you can't listen to just once? Or just five times, for that matter? It's catchy as hell and who hasn't felt used and can't relate these lyrics?
"It's all false love and affection, you don't like me, you just want the attention"
